The History of Coffee
Not many people know the mythical tale of how coffee was first discovered. Back in the 9th century, Kaldi, a humble Ethiopian goat herder observed how his goat danced and pranced about after eating the red berries of what we now know as the coffee plant. Amazed by the excitable behaviour of his herd, Kaldi collected some of the magical berries and consulted a holy man who cast them into a fire.
The aroma produced by the roasting beans was so intoxicating that they were quickly retrieved, ground up and infused into hot water: history’s first cup of hot coffee! Since then, coffee has been the drink of choice by practitioners of political intrigues, social uprising and creative thought.
